Effect of Transverse Restraint on Welding Residual Stress in V-Groove Butt Welding

چکیده

When evaluating the safety of steel structures, welding residual stress is used as secondary load and if there any restraint, yield base material for load, regardless size restraint. Of late, members increasing with increase in use high-strength steels, proportion total during evaluation structures increasing. Therefore, it necessary to investigate effect restraint on stress, determine reasonable according apply a load. To constraint conditions thermoelastic–plastic analysis was performed different member thicknesses, stresses, sizes. The did not affect direction weld line but perpendicular line. moved tensile compression at first layer middle final layers weld. change largest

Residual Stress and Deformation Analysis in Butt Welding on 6 mm SUS304 Steel with Jig Constraints Using Gas Metal Arc Welding

This article proposes a novel method for analyzing residual stress and deformation in butt welding on 6 mm SUS304 stainless steel plates, using MSC.MARC, a commercial finite element method software, to find the best location for jig fixtures that will minimize welding deformation. Simulation and experimental studies show that a distance of 100 mm between the jig center and the welding bead cent...

Longitudinal Residual Stress Analysis in AA2024-T3 Friction Stir Welding

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is an innovative solid-state joining process, which is gaining a great deal of attention in several applicative sectors. The opportune definition of process parameters, i.e. minimizing residual stresses, is crucial to improve joint reliability in terms of static and dynamic performance. Longitudinal residual stresses, induced by FSW in AA2024-T3 butt joints, have bee...

Control of Welding Residual Stress for Dissimilar Laser Welded Materials

The most common problem of welding dissimilar metals (DMWs) with respect to residual stresses is the differences in the coefficient of thermal expansion and heat conductivity of the two welded metals. In the present work, a CO2 continuous laser welding process was successfully applied and optimized for joining a dissimilar AISI 316 stainless steel and low carbon steel plates. The Taguchi approa...

Effect of welding on impact toughness of butt-joints in a titanium alloy

Impact toughness of a gas tungsten arc welded Ti /6Al /4V alloy butt-joint was evaluated at room temperature using standard Charpy V-notch specimens. The Charpy specimens were prepared with notch roots located either in the parent metal, in the heataffected zone (HAZ), or in the weld metal. Optical metallography and Vickers microhardness test showed that the weld metal has the coarsest grains a...

Correction of Butt-welding Induced Distortions by Laser Forming

Welding-induced distortion is an intrinsic phenomenon arising due to the thermally induced strain distributions in the weld and surrounding material. The distortion can be minimized during the pre-process, real-time, or postprocess stages. In the present paper, the laser forming (LF) technology is utilized for the post correction of welding-induced distortion. The out-of-plane distortion can be...
